This could be exciting news! Ronald Turk, associate deputy director and chief operating officer of the ATF, seems to be working to make it easier to buy firearm suppressors. I know that a lot of people are put off on the purchase of a suppressor when you have to combine the time it takes your application to be processed by the ATF, and the cost of the tax stamp, on top of the cost of the suppressor itself.
I don’t know the chances of the laws regarding suppressors being changed are, but I do believe that they have never been better than they are now. I also believe that the laws regarding firearms can get much worse in the future. Four years is not that far away. I personally I look forward to the day when I can introduce someone to the shooting sports and instruct them in an environment that’s a little less intimidating, less noisy, in which we can converse in normal volume, you know, just talk and not yell. Don’t become complacent, stay vigilant.
