I have worked with military and law enforcement, I have been a CCW/NRA instructor & concealed carry permit holder. With all those years of experience, I have come to a conclusion of what I consider to be the world’s best carry gun.
When I first started to carry a firearm, I carried a Colt 1911, just like all my heroes and other cool guys. There’s just nothing like 20lbs of steel and another 7-8 rounds of lead. Back around the 90s (if memory serves me correct) the agency I worked for at the time switched from Smith & Wesson 5906’s to Glock Handguns. Just like a lot of people back in the 90s, I did not think too highly of plastic guns, it wasn’t until I shot a Glock on the range did my attitude start to change. Not only did my scores start to improve, but so did everyone else’s on our team.
Let me slow down here a little bit, to be clear I am in no way saying that a Glock is better than a Smith & Wesson handgun, it is, but i’m not going to be the one to say it. Perhaps the Smith and Wesson’s were just old and worn out? Who knows. This was also around the same time I started training and competing in some minor shooting competitions with my Glock and duty gear, to get ready for the Arizona Police and Fire games. The 1911 was moved to the back of the safe to be forgotten and unused for the foreseeable future. It was during these dark days that I fell in love with my Glock handgun. Glock having a great law enforcement and military program didn’t hurt things either! Thanks to that program I have a shoe box full of Glocks, right next to my Colt. You might call me a Glock fan boy but the fact is, I have carried Glocks for many, many years and they are great guns.
However, I think I have found the perfect carry gun, a Smith and Wesson Shield! This Smith and Wesson Shield makes a great concealed carry gun, and I just love it. I love it because it’s easy to conceal, light and no smaller than a 9mm, everything I want! It fits perfectly in my hand and shoots great. It’s going to be hard replacing it next week with my new carry gun, the Glock 43.
